As a South Indian we would like a united front on this but I hardly think that is possible because all of our states have their own priorities, but I expect Kerala and TN to be united in this. If southern states ask for separation from the union of states, tribals will revolt for self governance as well if their demand of including the sarna religion code isn’t granted in the upcoming census. It is legally possible for the government to go for Delimitation.
But 100% there will be negative repercussions in whole south including Telugu States. I have no Idea about other states.

So i think the probability of this excercise is less or they will revise the formula by any amendments to avoid this unfairness.

I was worried when I read about the delimitation. Was shocking to see the representation from South India to the parliament is getting reduced and UP and Bihar getting high seats. This would drag everything down. Already the South is paying too much tax and all the benefits are given to UP and other states in north. I am not against their development but I don't see anything happening to the life of people there. 

TN has already voiced against this. Kerala will also join. But I am also not sure about Andhra/Telengana.

The only solution to this problem is a more Federal structure and less Central structure. GST was a step back in this direction. When tax money flows so disproportionately from South to North, they have a reason to feel agitated.

We can't be a democracy if 1 person is not 1 vote. However, we can't be a democracy if some states get punished at the expense of others either.

While all of this is happening, Tamilnadu and Karnataka are constantly fighting for Kaveri water, I am from Tamilnadu(Delta district) and work at Bengaluru and Tamilnadu is always punished in every way possible no water resources originate from Tamilnadu so it relies on Karnataka for water, I just hope there is a viable solution to fix this without constant fight and courts cases. Maybe kA should open less water than what TN asks for, getting water is better than no water at all. I don't hate Karnataka for not giving water, and I can see why KA is not giving water this year fewer rains than last year and increasing population in Bengaluru there are many aspects but there has to be a way to fix this I hope.

They work the land, provide cheap food which enables you to work in your it firms as there's food security. Sadly it doesn't pay that much so state revenue is low there. Corruption is there but if the base itself is low then guess what would be left after that.. Or do you think there's no corruption in any south state. Tl;Dr they being poor allows you to be rich.. And the people in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, etc.
Finally militaristic/ strategic benefits. For millenia, the North has been a bulwark against all invaders, bearing the brunt of the wars and incursions. Slowly grinding them before they ever reach meaningfully to the south. This you'll find a lot of old temples in the south.. While it's mostly ruins or non-existent in the North. In the present day the overwhelming majority of defense personnel are north indian and have borders with our adversaries. I'm sure I missed a lot as I'm not as learned as others.. I am tired of this BS. Delimitation as per discussion has to happen every census. In the 70's, we freezed seats for 25 years because some regions were growing faster than others. It automatically implies we would do delimitation after 25 years. But no, in



 the early 2000's, we pushed delimitation by another 25 years. For 50 years, we didn't do delimitation which is a traversty. Totally against what our constitution was built on. People of this generation are being forced to live under a compromise done two generations ago.

The US government has its own issues, but the way their Senate (upper chamber of US congress) operates (exactly 2 members from each state) is exactly to solve this issue. This ensures that bigger states (higher population) doesn't oppress smaller states.

I guess their constitutional forefathers were smart enough to forsee this issue.

I think one crucial aspect will depend on the census. 

If the people who have migrated to south india for job opportunities are counted as indians living in the south, and voting from there, then the change might not be so drastic. The problem would be if they are counted as citizens of bihar/UP etc.

This is an issue that should be resolved by doing the census properly instead of fighting over north-south.

Basically, BJP let out the delimitation ghost out of the bottle and it will happen after census. When delimitation happens, the South, NE, and smaller Northern states will be royally shafted. I see this Huge potential in India to be better than any other country, but it is being either ignored or mis utilized by leaders, who do not care for the betterment of the country. I want India to become the best country it can, But to become that, The govt. should first accept its faults.

1. The population growth is not a problem anymore, our replacement rate is lower than 2 which will cause more issues in the future 
2. Having studied in foreign countries, especially in one of the top ten universities in the world, education in India, at least in bigger institutions is really good. We have to improve quality for villages and lower urban schools, but remaining is OK. 
3. India exists because of Hinduism. Caste should be abolished, but even countries like Sri Lanka who don't have caste are breaking down. 

The three actual problems in India are
1. Indians being too pessimistic. I see a lot of Indians thinking that USA or Europe has all solutions, they don't. India is progressing at a great pace, and most of our problems can be solved with more resources/money. Be more optimistic about your country, only then can you be a part of the solution. 
2. A lot of people in agriculture and villages. It's easy to build infrastructure to cities rather than villages, and due to scale, the quality of education, services etc will improve. 60% of the people in agriculture growing for 40% of the people is not going to be sustainable. 
3. We have a socialistic mindset and we think that if someone became rich then it's bad.

Agree with everything brother, especially the point that we shud live with the understanding that every culture has different ethos and we must live with that understanding without trying to force ur beliefs down someone's throat. But also i don't want the hypocrisy where our beliefs are insulted for no reason at all while the other side can't take any criticism. Education system needs a serious revamp. Sex education is something we can start working on but it shud reach grassroot levels, i mean the rural India or slums.

Quite a good post. It is such posts that one like to reply constructively and have discussion. I agree that these are problems, but few deeper points to be noted are -

1. Population of India is at replacement levels. So, a good thing. Yes, we are densely populated but it has reasons. We have abundant water resources (almost 10% of India is water. China only has 1.5%) and fertile lands (2nd largest in the world after USA). So, we can support that population. Basically, we are larger than China, if we exclude their barren lands and Tibetan plateau. A nuanced problem is - We have not utilized those resources with proper logistics - Our surface water distribution is bad (in turn causes more ground water depletion) and capacity is 20% of available resources and per acre production is very low. Also India did not plan exclusive transportation for goods. Dedicated freight corridor should have been there 30 years ago. These problems make us think that we lack resources. Nope. We are not even utilizing 50% of them.
2. Again many point out that syllabus is problem in our education. Most of syllabus is on par with world levels. We lack skilled teachers. I will not suggest anything other than entrance tests for UG admissions because other methods are also not perfect. {You gave example of probably JEE - Anyone who is not good in Math cannot become a good computer engineer. In context of CS Engineering, Math is pre-requisite and JEE test that. Another nuanced problem is that we lack "skill colleges" like good ITIs, etc. that teach skilled labor technologies. We emphasized too much on degree colleges. Not every one is capable of doing good engineering or has enough patience and perseverance of a lawyer/doctor.  This creates jobless hoarders of degree holders who don't know anything about engineering and has no skills of other things. 
3. Yes, religion, caste and too much linguistic diversity is a problem. Since, the culture, diversity and religion is what separates India from rest of the world, I think we have to work with it. 

I will say another 2 major problems of India is - No respect of time - From personal level to govt/private projects level. Deadlines are there only to be missed. This creates cost overruns. Together with corruption, we get inferior quality. 

And second one is of course, we are not very business friendly. We sadly chose socialism at a time when East Asia was developing fast, and we were developing below world's average. China liberalized 13 years earlier than us.

About that. It depends on your professors. In commerce, math sucked, but the economics teacher would give us realistic applications of stuff, Business studies was fun and when I picked up the book again recently, I understood the utility of accountancy. And I loved English. We just got to chill and write essays. Being left to our own devices and not shamed was awesome.

In arts (college) we saw certain professors who encouraged independent thinking and others who just gave marks ass they wanted. I was really confused add to why that one professor was so pro-British, implying that they fixed India. He was also the one who didn't give marks “You wrote this extra. I didn't teach that.” and “You didn't add anything on your own” 😝

But I having the way to score in 4th year, so... :)

Actually, that's ideal. But they should modify it so the students are requested to have clear foundations for the course.

With boards, the was a minimum that you had to clear and then you could do whatever you wanted. You wanna go for art competitions? Go. We were really lucky that our teachers supported the sports teams, but lots of students aren't. For them, there should be an option to just ditch and get attendance.

The answer is in there. But there's a book on that. Qur'an teaches about killing or converting all kafirs. You'll find “Islam in the context of Hadis” by Ram Swarup online. Lookup hypocrites. I skimmed over the book, but a chapter explains how withing a decade of moving to Medina, Mohammed and his comrades killed or converted pretty much all local tribes.

Obc is obc NCL. Of course, they can get fake certificates, but officially, they're not obc if they make over 8 lakh per annum. What you're describing only applies to SC/ST and promotes the idea that it's somehow a genetic defect.

Just to point out your last point 
I don't believe Hindus are responsible for religious hate, no matter how you turn the pages. Even if u talk about Jai shree ram chants total of 32 cases from 2014 have been registered of which almost all are either completely fake or forcing to chant hai shree ram is fake. I do recall one even to be true actually but if we compare it with the total religion hate crime it's a one way traffic. The reason to point out this is that if u don't recognise the problem correctly you can't solve it and only way it can be solved is to ban the aasmani kitab and all the madarsas at once. 
Sure the caste hate is purely due to Hindus and I don't want to go into details over how Britishers exploited this fault line, all I want to say is people need to come over it and some part of India are overcomeing this as well. If u want to develop a nation, we need strick policies and equal rights to all i.e. what is right for one should be right for all, no special treatment of so called minority.

I disagree with the point regarding population density. India has the most arable land of any country on the planet. Not even the US or China is better suited to host a large native population.

OP has a distorted idea of democracy. He claims that representation and secularism is a necessary condition for democracy, which is objectively false. USA was a democracy since its inception with slavery. There are plenty of democratic countries with state religions, eg Bangladesh.
It is impossible he isn't aware of the definition of a democracy , or the examples I gave. The only conclusion I can draw is he is purposefully being dishonest for some agenda of his.

Adding to your first point, the onus of population control falls one only a handful of communities , whereas procreating despite poverty is actively encouraged in some communities which will eventually lead to easier brainwashing and thereby crime.

Overpopulation is the root issue specially for people of my generation ( early 20s), you can say all you want about India’s fertility going below replacement level etc but we’ll be seeing its results only in the future, I’m glad that atleast future generations of indians will be able to experience India properly. But in the present our country is overpopulated shithole, downvote me all you want but one of the main reasons I wanna leave the country is this. All my life I’ve only lived in small apartments, experienced congested roads, crowded everything. I’ve family in the west who get to live in big houses with backyards and children doing a lot of outdoor activities because they have so much space. In India the only way this is achievable is if you move to a village or be a millionaire ( to afford this lifestyle in a city , even then it’s nearly not achievable, I mean just look at the richest Indians houses in Mumbai, no amount of wealth can buy space here). Indians of my generation have horrible living standards, there I said it.

Don't know whether it is thought of in past and I'm coming from 0 policy making background but reservation should be made grid like. Government creates annual budget for reservation which is marked down to how much percentage a particular caste/ samaaj gets. Caste associations then democratically select and nominate the beneficiaries which will ensure even distribution.

I totally agree with everything that you have said and one point that I have observed is our society is very individualistic in many ways, if people have enough money they will purchase more assets than they would probably need in their lifetime. Take for instance car, travelling in public transport is looked down upon , so everyone purchases a car whether they need it or not, now I understand it’s not as simplistic since public transport is over crowded, but we need to suffer for a bit and push govt and policies to increase the public infra.

Let’s take garbage disposal as example , people will dump their garbage into someone else’s open plot, apna ghar Saaf rehna chaye, almost everyone dumps their religious waste wrapped in polythene into rivers.

Let’s take highways in the country, on almost every highway you will see illegals cuts being made just because who will travel few extra kms to make a proper u turn.

And finally the biggest issue I have with our people is how easily they make anyone a god, politicians are supposed to be servants of public, but all I see is people treating them like kings and are ok being treated like inferiors, I mean the inferiority complex that we have is just too much, a lot of people move out of the country, for their own benefit, which is not wrong in anyway but it’s really individualistic, and this thought of “Mera kaam Banta, bhaad mai jae janta “ is dragging us back.

Bring two child policy. We dont want replacement level fertility rate, we want population reduced.

As for education, we just need to adopt 2 language formula. So that burden on students will be less, and we will have less school dropouts.

Stop minority appeasement. And bring strict creamy layer exclusion in all caste reservations.

But reservation also needs a revamp. As some people clearly have overcome their previous tragic state and are now well settled.
Like how OBC reservations are limited with NCL, same could be done with SC/ST too.
Even among the OBCs, NCL is not strictly followed. One can easily get a Non-Creamy Layer certificate by bribing the officials. But that's due to corruption (different department and shouldn't be clubbed into caste)

On religion : though I myself am not an ardent follower of any religion and would like to identify myself as an agnostic, I don't believe abolishing religion would do us any good.

Around 90-95 % of people in india are religious and believe that a superior almighty exists.
 
And for majority of them religion is what that gives them a conscience on what is right and what is wrong.

It's true that politicians are using religion as divider and often instigate violence on basis of it. Also true that a few people are confiding in violent means because of religion but that is a small minority, max 2-3%.
And we can see what that 2-3% are able to do.

Now imagine what would happen, when u tell 90-95% that there is no hell waiting for them for theirs wrong doings, that even if u commit a crime u can escape by hoodwinking the govt and no superior almighty is there to punish them, that karma doesn't exist?

It will be pandemonium. All hell set loose.

As much as I hate religion, it's a necessary evil to keep the community in check.

My guess OP is a kid or best in his early 20s. I am saying that because I used to think exactly like that in my early 20s but realized soon after that these three are not the main issues. Education is only one I will include in the top 5 but the way OP has described it is also wrong.

Disagree with education. Indian education is actually very good for it's price. You may not like hard college exams and all, but the reason why Indian and asians in general do so well anywhere in the world is because of that only. Finland has best education system on paper, but finish aren't running top researchers or tech companies in the world, Asians are. And you are so wrong on why a computer student has to study PCM. IIT profs very well know it. Computer science is not just coding, it's 90% hardcore math. And even it's working requires knowledge of circuits (physics) and semi conductor solid states (chemistry). And one only needs to score 60% of the paper to get &lt;500 rank for comp in old IITs, so anyone so confident can leave the entire chemistry and still get selected. Someone good in math and logic, can easily be good computer scientist but someone not good in math can never be a good computer scientist. Also L Hospital rule is actually not a good method for differentiation basics, cutting marks for it makes sense. It's just a shortcut for competitive exams. If one is so good in coding, try giving International Informatics Olympiad (it's much more hard than JEE lol) if you do well, forget IIT you can get admission in MIT or Stanford instead.

1)Population : It is one of the few benefits we have. Obviously a big population comes with huge resource crunch, but it is this very thing that ensures our importance as of now. Because, don't forget that the current importance of India comes due to the huge market it provides. India at present doesn't have any exclusive product to offer to the global market on which global economy will become dependent, and hence, have no option but to be considerate of our POV. In the past, we have foolishly sacrificed several opportunities to generate one. Anyway, in the future, if govt and societal policies concentrate on human development programs, in which education is also important, including land, labor reforms, (farm reform is now exclusively state affair), this massive population will also generate massive workforce, both blue and white collar, as well as scholars, to drive the nation forward. 

2)Education : Much have been said by a previous comment here, I'll just add on it. School curriculum change is a need of the hour. Also, the manner of teaching kids must be revised. Attention has to be given on problem solving and group cooperation capabilities, with slightly less emphasis on rote memory. The societal view on teaching as a job needs to be improved, by revising the training regimen, and attract young talents by increasing salary especially of the teachers of rural zones, given on a basis of daily reporting and time of work, to ensure teacher availability to rural students. 
In under– and post– grad levels, more emphasis on research and practical application. Look, in selection process, we can't do a thing. Candidates for STEM and govt job are humongous. Seats are abysmal. 

3)Religion : Don't think that you will once abandon it for growth and regain it after growth. It never works. Didn't work for Russia. Didn't work for the communist countries. Didn't work for China. Will not work for anyone either. Talks start with abandoning religion. Gradually, but surely, moves to removing culture. Society becomes hollow. Society, by and large, needs a gluing factor, which ensures similarities and saliences, important for the uniqueness of a society. Remove religion, cultural foundations will not exist. If economy becomes the factor then, it will convert to a money making machine. Removal of religious knowledge is one of the things that allowed social ossification into castes. Hierarchy is a nature of any society. The goal should always be to reduce its severity. Removing religion will not remove hierarchy. It will find a new method to assert itself. Look at Japan, completely hollowed out society. Keeping money in banks will cost you negative interest there. You think China has addressed poverty? By declaring 0 poverty, Chinese govt has officially removed itself from any further responsibility of addressing the plight of common people, nobody is poor, what's the problem then? Get it? The plight of Shanghai didn't come out of the blue. People getting locked in impressive huge buildings, and state doesn't have any responsibility to provide for the basic amenities like food, clothes, medicine, even pest control. These countries survive by a robust advertisement policy. What these countries have, is a product that the global economy can't sacrifice. Hence, west has to be considerate to the image these states want to portray.

i would say to not care of building a temple if there is some random free land and would support to build a building useful for all the people like a mall or hospital or school or smtg, but in places where things really existed once and have been converted to structures of the other religions like for the Ram Mandir or even the recent Gyanwapi mosque, id support for reclaiming it...and i believe everyone who respects the Indian Culture and Hinduism shall too think like so rather than wanting to build statues and temples in every bit of land available.
